Hawkers' Day 2019
ESP supports the UNESCO nomination of hawker culture in Singapore. We have seen the transformation of the hawker trade over the past 50 years and we also discovered the important roles of our hawkers during our nation building. Hawker culture is not just about the food, but also the people and the spirit. We want to capture all these valuable insights and experiences to promote our hawker culture. We want to see it thrive from generation to generation.
The Eat Shop Play app promotes the labour of love by Singapore’s hawkers. It is a platform that gives all hawkers in Singapore a digital presence and lets consumers discover their favourite hawker food. It also promotes Singapore’s unique hawker culture. Eat Shop Play provides a comprehensive list of all 111 hawker centres, incorporating 6300 hawker stalls on this island. It also leads one to explore these hawker centres and listen to the hawkers’ amazing stories about bringing life to what is uniquely Singapore.
